Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, August 6, 2025 — At least seven individuals, including four security officials, lost their lives in two separate shooting incidents in Karak district and Peshawar, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The latest violence underscores the growing threat of militancy in Pakistan’s northwestern region.

In Karak, unidentified attackers targeted a vehicle belonging to the Frontier Constabulary (FC) in the Garagri area, resulting in the martyrdom of four personnel, including the driver. The ambush prompted swift condemnation from both Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Governor Faisal Kundi.

CM Gandapur issued instructions for law enforcement to apprehend the culprits and extended his sympathies to the bereaved families. “We honor the sacrifices of our brave personnel who laid down their lives for the nation,” read a statement from his office.

Governor Kundi echoed the sentiments, stating, “The blood of our martyrs will not go in vain in the fight against terrorism.”

Meanwhile, a separate shooting late Tuesday night in Peshawar claimed three lives, including Police Inspector Ali Hussain. According to SSP Operations Masood Ahmed, Hussain and two companions were traveling on Warsak Road when gunmen on motorbikes opened fire, using a pistol and an SMG.

“All three occupants of the vehicle died on the spot. An investigation is underway, with geofencing and other forensic methods being utilized,” SSP Ahmed noted.

Governor Kundi also denounced this attack, describing it as “tragic and inhumane,” and extended condolences to the affected families.

The province has seen a noticeable surge in militant attacks over the past year, particularly after the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the federal government in late 2022.

Just last month, another police officer was martyred at a security post in Karak’s Koh-i-Maidan area. The attackers reportedly escaped into the mountainous terrain near the borders of Lakki Marwat and Mianwali districts.
