Karachi – July 24, 2025:
Malir City Police have arrested the prime suspect in a robbery case involving the residence of a Chinese national in Karachi’s Clifton locality. According to police officials, an intelligence-based operation led to the apprehension of the suspect, who had been hiding in the Malir area.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir, Dr. Abdul Khaliq Pirzada, confirmed the arrest and stated that the individual was the ringleader behind the robbery. “The suspect’s wife, who worked as a housemaid, was also found to be complicit in the crime,” he said.
The suspect allegedly stole cash and jewellery worth approximately Rs4 million from the home of Chinese citizen Xu Baosheng. The police revealed that the suspect and his wife used disguises to carry out thefts across Karachi and would flee to other areas afterward to avoid capture.
SSP Pirzada added that the wife would take up domestic jobs to gather inside information before coordinating the crimes with her husband. The couple is believed to be responsible for multiple incidents of robbery and theft throughout the city.
A case has been filed at Clifton Police Station under Sections 381 (theft) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The complaint, filed by the victim, states that he hired the woman to care for his children six months ago. Over time, he noticed the disappearance of cash and valuables. The maid then requested medical leave, after which further losses were discovered.
Law enforcement is continuing operations to apprehend other individuals linked to the case, and further investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan. Speaking at a high-level meeting, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for Chinese nationals, particularly in light of their significant contributions to the local economy.
