Manama, Bahrain – October 26, 2025:
Pakistan’s boys’ volleyball team continued their remarkable run at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025, securing a spot in the semi-finals after a commanding straight-sets victory over China in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
The Green Shirts triumphed 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-17) in a swift 53-minute encounter at Isa Sports City, showcasing confidence, skill, and strong teamwork from start to finish. From the opening serve, Pakistan took control with solid defense, precise spikes, and well-executed coordination, leaving China struggling to find rhythm.
Key performers — Khizar Hayat, Muhammad Yahya, Muhammad Anas, and Ajmal Junaid — delivered standout performances, combining consistency, sharp serves, and agile defense to secure the decisive win. Pakistan’s serving game and blocking were particularly effective, keeping constant pressure on their opponents.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan began their campaign with a straight-sets victory over Mongolia, followed by dominant 3-0 wins against hosts Bahrain and Uzbekistan. They then outclassed Saudi Arabia 3-1 (25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 26-24) in their final Group ‘E’ match, finishing top of the group to book a quarterfinal berth.
With five consecutive wins, Pakistan now stands among the tournament’s top contenders, reflecting the nation’s growing strength in youth volleyball. The team’s success is being hailed as a sign of the bright future of volleyball in Pakistan, driven by the dedication of young athletes and solid training programs.
The semi-final match is scheduled for Monday, October 27, at 9:00 PM local time (11:00 PM PKT), where Pakistan will look to extend their winning streak and secure a place in the final.
Pakistan has sent a 53-member contingent to the ongoing Games, being held from October 22 to 31, and has already won its first medal — a bronze in boys’ kabaddi.
In a social media post, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) praised the team’s “proud achievement,” crediting Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Muhammad Yasir Pirzada, who organized the national training camp that prepared the squad for the prestigious continental event.
