Islamabad, August 3 —
At least 299 people, including 140 children, have lost their lives and 715 others have been injured—among them 239 children—as flash floods and torrential rains continue to wreak havoc across Pakistan since June 26, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), as reported by PTV News.

- 61 ration bags
- 958 blankets, 569 quilts, 613 mattresses
- 1,282 kitchen sets, 1,163 food packs
- 1,122 hygiene kits
- 2,170 tarpaulins
- 350 life jackets
- 146 de-watering pumps
Medical response:
- 71 medical camps established
- 577 patients treated to date
Preparedness for Incoming Monsoon Spell
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the sixth spell of monsoon rains to begin on August 5, prompting disaster preparedness across multiple regions.
In Punjab, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has raised alerts, citing rainfall in the past 24 hours in Rawalpindi, Bahawalnagar, Murree, Chakwal, Sahiwal, Narowal, Okara, Attock, and Lahore. More rain is expected in most districts over the next 24 hours.
In Rawalpindi, all Rescue 1122 personnel leaves have been cancelled, and pre-deployments of emergency response teams and equipment—such as ambulances, fire vehicles, boats, and water rescue teams—have been completed.
Forecast (August 4–7)
According to PMD:
- Rain, wind, and thundershowers expected in:
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad (Aug 4–7)
- Gilgit Baltistan (from Aug 5)
- Balochistan (northeastern and southern parts on Aug 6)
- Sindh: Hot and humid with light rain in coastal areas
Authorities Urged to Stay Alert
PMD has advised local and district disaster management bodies to remain vigilant and take preventive measures against urban flooding, particularly in densely populated or poorly drained regions.
