Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — October 24, 2025:
Pakistan’s security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Lakki Marwat district, eliminating eight militants and injuring six others, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to the ISPR statement, the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists in the area. The operation is part of the ongoing nationwide campaign to eradicate terrorism and restore peace under the National Action Plan.
“The security forces remain fully committed to eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country. Operations will continue until the complete restoration of peace and order,” the ISPR said.
Background and Recent Operations
The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has faced a persistent surge in militant violence in recent months, with security forces intensifying counterterrorism actions against groups identified as Fitna al-Khawarij — a term used by the state for militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Earlier this month, on October 13–14, security forces conducted an IBO in Spinwam, North Waziristan, killing 18 terrorists after an intense exchange of fire.
On September 27, another operation in Lakki Marwat resulted in the deaths of 17 militants, while on September 12, four terrorists linked to Fitna al-Hindustan were neutralized in Mastung.
Continued Counterterrorism Drive
ISPR emphasized that search and sanitization operations are ongoing in Lakki Marwat to ensure no remaining threats persist. The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the momentum of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a reinvigorated national counterterrorism campaign approved under the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
