ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad on Wednesday granted a three-day physical remand of two men accused in an alleged rape incident that reportedly took place at a private shopping mall under the Margalla police station’s jurisdiction.

Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas approved the police’s request to keep the suspects — Faisal Jalal and Hafeezullah — in custody for further questioning and medical examinations.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant, a woman who had recently arrived in Islamabad seeking employment, said she had been searching for job opportunities on Facebook when she was contacted by a person claiming to represent a call centre.

On October 21, she was invited to meet at a shopping mall, where one of the suspects allegedly escorted her to a nearby flat. There, after a short conversation, both men are accused of sexually assaulting her.

The victim told investigators she was also physically assaulted during the incident, sustaining bruises from slaps and punches.

Following her distress call to police helpline 15, officers reached the scene promptly and took both suspects into custody. Authorities confirmed that an inquiry is ongoing and that legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.
