KURRAM / RAWALPINDI – October 29, 2025:
At least six Pakistan Army personnel, including a young captain, were martyred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Dogar area of Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday. Seven militants were also killed in the encounter.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched after reports of terrorist presence linked to the group referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij — a term the army uses for elements of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“During the intense exchange of fire, seven militants were neutralized by the security forces,” the statement said.
Those who embraced martyrdom were identified as:
- Captain Noman Saleem (24, Mianwali)
- Havaldar Amjad Ali (39, Swabi)
- Naik Waqas Ahmad (36, Rawalpindi)
- Sepoy Aijaz Ali (23, Shikarpur)
- Sepoy Muhammad Waleed (23, Jhelum)
- Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz (32, Khairpur)
ISPR described Captain Noman as “a brave young medical officer who, while performing his duty of providing medical support, fought gallantly and embraced shahadat alongside his men.”
The statement added that a sanitisation operation was underway in the area to ensure no remaining militants were present. “Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to eliminate terrorism from the country as part of the ongoing Azm-e-Istehkam campaign,” it said.
Recent months have witnessed a sharp surge in terror incidents targeting security forces, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement with the TTP in 2022.
Earlier this week, Pakistani troops foiled two major infiltration attempts from across the Afghan border, killing 25 militants, including four suicide bombers, in separate operations in North Waziristan and Kurram districts, according to ISPR.
Authorities reaffirmed that counter-terror operations will continue “until the complete eradication of foreign-sponsored terrorism” from Pakistan’s soil.
