Pakistan, Iran Sign MoUs to Boost Media and Cultural Cooperation

Islamabad – November 5, 2025:
Pakistan and Iran on Tuesday signed a series of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in broadcasting, film production, media regulation, and cultural exchange, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoIB).

The agreements were signed between the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and five major Pakistani media organizations, including Pakistan Television (PTV), Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Box Office, Sab TV Network, and VSH TV, during a ceremony held in Islamabad.

“These agreements aim to foster collaborative content creation, promote cultural understanding, and streamline media practices across both countries,” the MoIB said in a statement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar hailed the visit of the Iranian media delegation as “productive and inspiring,” emphasizing that the accords reflected both nations’ determination to “strengthen people-to-people connections and promote shared values of peace, brotherhood, and resistance against oppression.”


Iranian Parliamentary Speaker to Arrive for Three-Day Visit

Meanwhile, Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf is set to arrive in Islamabad on Wednesday for a three-day official visit aimed at enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations.

According to the Iranian Embassy, Qalibaf will hold meetings with senior Pakistani leaders, including members of the National Assembly and Senate. His visit is expected to focus on parliamentary diplomacy and expanding collaboration across multiple sectors.

“Both the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have strong, vibrant, and influential parliaments,” Qalibaf said in a statement. “We are committed to deepening cooperation with the Parliament of Pakistan and to supporting our respective governments in strengthening relations across all sectors.”

Pakistan and Iran share longstanding cultural and political ties, with recent years witnessing renewed efforts to expand collaboration in trade, energy, border security, and media. The latest MoUs mark another step toward bolstering cultural diplomacy and promoting regional cooperation through joint media initiatives.
