Karachi – November 3, 2025
The families of Ghani Aman Chandio and Sarmad Mirani, who were arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Karachi, have appealed for justice after the suspects were reportedly not produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
According to CTD officials, the two men were apprehended earlier during an intelligence-based operation in which two hand grenades and a quantity of explosives were recovered from their possession. The department claimed the suspects were planning subversive activities in the city.
However, the heirs of Chandio and Mirani have raised serious concerns, alleging that the suspects have not been presented before the court within the legally mandated time frame. They urged the authorities to ensure a transparent investigation and uphold due legal process.
Human rights activists have also called on the provincial government to take notice of the matter and ensure that the suspects’ rights are protected under the law.
The CTD has not yet issued a statement regarding the delay in their court appearance.
